- Any claims in the power steering class action lawsuit against Toyota must be filed or postmarked by January 15, 2019
Owners of 2009 or 2010 Toyota Corollas may be eligible for a free check thanks to a class action lawsuit regarding the power steering units in some vehicles.
This class action lawsuit alleges that in model year 2009 and 2010 Toyota Corolla vehicles, the power steering system could potentially cause the vehicle to slowly wander or drift from center at highway speeds, and even jerk suddenly to one side.
Toyota does not admit that their vehicles are unsafe, and does not admit that they broke any safety laws, but they have agreed to settle the Power Steering class action lawsuit out of court simply to avoid court proceedings. Settlement in this class action lawsuit against Toyota will cover having the power steering system replaced at no cost, or reimbursement if the owners has already had the power steering system replaced on their own. If owners prefer that an alternate power steering system other than Toyota’s be used, Toyota will pay 50% of installation costs.
The deadline to submit a claim in Toyota’s class action lawsuit is January 15, 2019. A final approval hearing will be held on or about January 4, 2019. If a judge approves the settlement from Toyota, owners who filed a valid claim in this case should expect to hear something within 30 days.
